Caring for a loved one can be rewarding but it’s also demanding. RespiteConnect helps families and carers find trusted local respite and companionship providers who can offer support when you need a break.
Our goal is simple: make it easier to access flexible, safe, community-based support in Badenoch & Strathspey, with plans to expand across the Highlands.
Register Your Interest
- Tell us about your needs, location, and the kind of support that would help you most.
Connect with Local Providers
- Once you’ve registered, you will receive a confirmation email within 5 working days. This will outline current providers who match your requirements. If there is more than one, each provider’s profile summary will be shared — without names or contact details — so you can decide who to contact. Only one provider can be contacted at a time to keep introductions fair and manageable.
Arrange Support Directly
- Providers set their own rates and are paid directly by families. RespiteConnect is a connecting platform only, we do not employ providers and do not deliver regulated care services.
Some families pay for respite support themselves, while others may be able to access funding through Self-Directed Support (SDS). SDS is a system in Scotland that allows people to have more choice and control over how their care and support is arranged.
If you think you may be eligible for support, the first step is usually to contact your local social work team and request a needs assessment. This is typically done through the local Single Point of Access for adult social care.
RespiteConnect can work alongside both self-funded arrangements and SDS-funded support, depending on your circumstances.
